About

Mountain Spring Farm is a working farm where there are horses to feed, fences to mend, flowers to grow, rosemary and holy basil to dry, and cats that appear from nowhere and decide to stay.

It is also something more than a farm. It is a place that has been quietly forming itself, and its keepers, into something oriented toward one thing: helping people find their way home… to themselves and to the source of Love that has always been present.

The day science begins to study non-physical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence.

I’ve learned most of what I know about human beings — and about myself — through horses.

There is something about being in genuine relationship with these animals that cuts through everything performed and gets to what is true.

What is it that opens us, what closes us, what returns us to ourselves when we have wandered far from home?

My background is perhaps a little unusual.
I received certification as an Equine Specialist through EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association, 2009) and then trained through Level 2 of Kathy Pike's Academy for Coaching with Horses. I became very curious about sound and vibration, and I enjoy working with singing bowls and tuning forks.
I also have a BS in Computer Science and currently work as a Software Analyst at a small college. I studied Montessori education and spent years as an elementary teacher when my daughter was young. I have a long time love of movement — yoga, qi gong, and had a wonderful experience in a local modern dance company. And I am currently completing a Master of Divinity in Theology and Spiritual Formation.

What connects all of it, I think, is a lifelong desire to understand how humans come alive.

That curiosity lives in everything offered here, whether you are bringing your child to spend a morning with the horses, joining a Soul Care Circle from your living room, or simply finding your way to a quiet corner of the Blue Ridge Mountains to breathe.

Some beliefs we hold dear here…

A spiritual practice is not an add-on to life — it is the ground everything else grows from.

Coming home to who we truly are often involves a gentle unlearning of what the world has told us we must be.

Patterns of thinking and being that block our flourishing can be released, and in that release, something truer and more alive emerges.

Our bodies carry wisdom the mind cannot always access. Learning to listen inward is essential to any genuine healing and growth.

The most transforming thing available to us is surrender, and the deep rest of trusting that we are held by a Love infinitely greater than our own striving.

Love is always greater than fear.

More Love…

More Love… *

My life became forever an exercise in discovering more Love when I was diagnosed with breast cancer at thirty-four.

The journey that followed was both conventional and unconventional — surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation alongside yoga, meditation, journaling, massage, and art therapy. Each became part of a healing path that taught me, in the most embodied way possible, that we are whole beings whose healing happens on every level at once.

And then there were the horses. These extraordinary beings became part of my soul in that season, and they have never left.

Everything I offer here grows from that journey…the deep knowing that Love is stronger than fear, and that healing is always, at its root, a letting go and a coming home.
