Farm Girl Days

Four Saturday mornings. Eight girls.
One farm that will stay with her forever.

Saturday Mornings in June:

June 6
June 13
June 20
June 27
9:00am – 12:00pm

For the girl who is a “farm girl at heart.”

Farm Girl Days is for girls ages 7–9 who love animals, love being outside, and love making things with their hands. It is a summer morning unlike anything else — unhurried, alive, and full of the kind of freedom that only a farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains can offer.

We encourage kindness - to each other and to all the animals and plants around us on the farm.

We’ll make farm girl reflection journals, arrange flowers, hang out with the horses, and wear our aprons and shilly-shallies (all purpose bandanas!) as we enjoy summer time and the feeling of freedom on the farm.

Most importantly, we value each child’s unique expression in this world and want her to feel that value.
There are no hard and fast schedules here. No screens or phones here.

Each Saturday, your farm-girl-at-heart will arrive at Mountain Spring Farm and step into a world that sees her — exactly as she is. There are no rigid schedules here, no arbitrary rules, no pressure to perform. There is only the land, the horses, the morning light, and the invitation to discover what she loves.

This is not just a camp. It is a space where a girl gets to find out who she is when nobody is telling her who to be.

Farm Girl Days was born over ten years ago out of a deep love for children and a Montessori educator's conviction that the best learning happens when a child is genuinely free to follow her curiosity. That spirit is still the heartbeat of every morning on the farm.

What does a farm girl morning look like?

Meeting the horses
is a big highlight!

On the very first morning, each girl does two important things: she chooses her farm girl apron, and she chooses her reflection journal. These are hers to keep — her companions for the four Saturdays ahead and a way of saying, from the very first moment, that what she thinks and creates and notices matters.

Then the morning opens up. Girls move freely between activities, following their interests and their energy. Some will spend most of their time near the horses. Others in the garden, picking flowers, creating botanical art, painting or drawing in the art journal. Some will want to do some of everything. All of it is welcome.

A taste of what fills a Farm Girl morning:

✦  Meeting the horses — grooming and simply being with the horses

✦  Spirit Animal discovery — a beloved Farm Girl Days tradition (and a lot of fun)

✦  Art journaling in the farm girl reflection journals

✦  Flower picking and arranging from the farm gardens

✦  Herb gathering, drying, and learning

✦  Gardening and tending the land

✦  Traditional skills (varies by interest)

✦  Simple craft projects

✦  Nature hikes, leaf rubbings, and quiet time by the creek

✦  Meditation with the horses — yes, really, and it is magic

✦  Round-up time — a gentle group reflection to close the morning

The day has a natural rhythm and flow, but no rigid timeline — because it is summer on the farm, after all, and the best moments are the ones that happen when you are not watching the clock.

If you have a daughter who lights up around animals, disappears into a creative project for hours, or needs more sky and more quiet than her regular life tends to offer…

This summer program is for that girl.

The one who needs space to breathe. The one who does her best thinking outside. The one who has something in her that is waiting to be seen and named and celebrated.

Eight girls. Four mornings in June that move slowly and intentionally, because we believe your daughter deserves mornings that are made for her, not mornings she has to fit into.

She will come home with hay in her hair, flowers in her hands, and something quieter and truer settled in her heart.

What past Farm Girls have said:

"They're not like normal teachers. They let me paint when I want to paint."

"I loved the colors of the flowers on the farm. I would make a game of gathering as many different colors as I could find."

"I liked it because it just made me feel happy."
